Three Seas Universities Network Conference

For the second time, the Catholic University of Lublin will co-host the Three Seas Local Government Congress (June 12-13, 2024) – an event where leaders from across Central Europe will discuss the challenges facing the 12 countries that are part of the Three Seas Initiative. The Congress will include a conference on the digital future of universities, which will be attended by representatives of the academic community affiliated with the Three Seas Universities Network, which was established under the initiative of the Catholic University of Lublin. - The network is a very important initiative, which, by integrating the scientific community of the Three Seas countries, is destined for success in advance," - said Rector of KUL, Rev. Prof. Miroslaw Kalinowski a year ago at the inauguration of this cooperation forum.

The conference in Lublin will bring together prominent experts from Poland and various European countries. Participants will debate the various challenges facing the countries participating in the Three Seas Initiative. The main topics of discussion will focus on the future of digital universities and the opportunities presented by this transformation. The goal of the conference is to understand and develop strategies that will allow universities to successfully adapt to the rapidly changing digital world, while maximizing the benefits of international academic cooperation within the Three Seas Universities Network.

The event will include numerous panel discussions, lectures, and workshops that will enable participants to share knowledge and experiences, as well as establish valuable academic and professional contacts. The Three Seas Initiative, of which the conference is a part, aims to strengthen cooperation between the countries of the Central and Eastern European region, which is expected to bring benefits not only in the sphere of education, but also in other socio-economic areas.

The conference was organized thanks to funding from the Excellent Science II program, supported by the Minister of Science and Higher Education.

The initiative of the Three Seas Universities Network is aimed at integrating the academic communities of the countries of the region and deepening cooperation in the commercialization of knowledge and exchange of experiences related to the formation of a culture of quality education. The Network will undertake joint activities aimed at conducting research and scientific projects and implementing innovative measures in the area of quality of the educational process.

A year ago, on May 16, 2023, the Three Seas Universities Network, of which the Catholic University of Lublin is the leader, was inaugurated. During the inauguration of the Network, KUL Rector Rev. Prof. Miroslaw Kalinowski stated: "This is the inauguration of a very important initiative, which, by integrating the scientific community of the Three Seas countries, is destined for success. Cooperation between the universities that have joined the Network today has already taken place in the past, but now it will gain a new quality."

Today, the Three Seas Universities Network includes a total of 14 universities from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine.

The overarching goal of the current second edition of the project is to strengthen cooperation among the universities affiliated with the Three Seas Universities Network.
