KUL Welcomes New Vice-Rector for Education Affairs

The Rector’s College at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) welcomes its newest member, Fr. Dr. Habil. Jarosław Jęczeń, as Vice-Rector for Education Affairs. “Our task ahead is to develop the ‘master-student’ model in the realm of new technologies, including artificial intelligence,” says Fr. Jęczeń.

The new Vice-Rector will oversee the recruitment process, the development of educational programs, and the management of various fields of study, including postgraduate programs. He will also be responsible for establishing new programs that align with the university’s mission and contemporary challenges. Additionally, he will supervise the School of Polish Language and Culture and the Polish Community Center at KUL.
“His academic and teaching career, along with his significant professional experience outside the university in his field of expertise, make Dr. Jęczeń an ideal candidate for the position of Vice-Rector for Education Affairs. Father Jęczeń co-created the two-tier study program in social work and directed the Institute of Family Studies and Social Work. I particularly value his experience in integrating scientific theory with practical application. Emphasizing practical application in education is something we must prioritize in the university’s activities,” emphasizes the Rector of KUL, Fr. Prof. Mirosław Kalinowski.
The newly appointed Vice-Rector emphasizes that a crucial element of education is its alignment with market and social needs to ensure graduates can find employment. “Our role is to prepare young people to navigate the job market with the knowledge they have gained and by building social relationships,” notes Fr. Jęczeń.
According to the Vice-Rector for Education Affairs, the word “educate” has nearly a hundred synonyms, suggesting a wide range of actions in the field of education. “After 20 years of teaching, I can honestly and seriously say that the ‘master-student’ relationship is fundamental to this area of university life. We continue to explore and build it amid the changing realities of life. Our task ahead is to develop the ‘master-student’ model in the realm of new technologies, including artificial intelligence,” says Rev. Jęczeń.
Fr. Dr Jarosław Jęczeń is a long-time academic lecturer at the Institute of Family Studies within the Faculty of Theology at KUL. He also serves as an assistant in the Department of Social, Hospice, and Palliative Care, as well as vice-president of the KUL Development Foundation. With extensive experience in media communication, he is recognized as an expert in media ethics.
Fr. Jęczeń has held several significant positions within the university, including director of the School of Polish Language and Culture and director of the Institute of Family Studies and Social Work. From 2004 to 2008, he represented the university as the Rector’s Delegate for International Cooperation, liaising with the KUL Friends Association in Canada and the United States.
In addition to his academic roles, Rev. Jęczeń has worked as a journalist and deputy director of Catholic Radio Lublin and as the director of Radio PLUS Lublin. His research interests encompass the anthropology of mass media and interpersonal and media communication, grounded in the personalist philosophy of Karol Wojtyła.
