Studying at the Catholic University of Lublin: A Foreigner`s Perspective

– I vividly recall the moment I made the decision to study in Poland. It was after meeting my girlfriend, who is Polish, in the Czech Republic. When she introduced me to Lublin and the Catholic University of Lublin, where she is pursuing her doctorate, I was convinced to study here. What I find most appealing about Lublin is its perfect balance; it's not as tranquil as the countryside yet avoids the hustle and bustle of a large city. Lublin epitomizes a harmonious environment—serene yet lively," explains Furkan, a student from Turkey studying at the Catholic University of Lublin.

There are almost 8,500 students studying at the Catholic University of Lublin, including many foreigners who have chosen our university for various reasons. Several of them have shared their stories about how they ended up in Lublin and why they chose the Catholic University of Lublin.

Ahmet, another student from Turkey, shares his experience: 'I have traveled extensively, having completed four undergraduate degrees. When I decided to pursue a master's degree, I looked into universities in Gdansk, Krakow, Warsaw, Rzeszow, and Lublin. Among these, I found the Catholic University of Lublin to be the most prestigious, offering high-quality education,' Ahmet states.

Kenny also chose to study at the Catholic University of Lublin. His journey from Peru to Lublin began when he was searching for affordable yet high-quality educational opportunities in Europe. 'I discovered the Catholic University of Lublin's study programs and was impressed by its reputation and the opportunities it offered. I chose the Catholic University of Lublin for its academic excellence, affordable fees compared to other European universities, and the chance to learn about Polish culture, which was completely new to me. Studying here has been very rewarding. I have the opportunity to learn from competent professors, take interesting classes, and collaborate with talented Polish colleagues. I will certainly have fond memories of my time here and the knowledge I have gained,' Kenny says.

Citizens of Ukraine are coming to Lublin in large numbers. Mykhailo, a student of English-language journalism, shares his reasons for choosing the Catholic University of Lublin among several universities in Lublin. 'Why the Catholic University of Lublin? Over the years, I have studied at several universities and realized that studying is not just about attending lectures. University life is like a palette of colors—the richer it is, the more beautiful the work of art that can be created. Lectures are just one of those colors. There are others, such as Christian values, youth meetings, Academic Pastoral, Erasmus trips, visits to exhibitions, and excursions,' Mykhailo enumerates.

In recent years, more and more students from Africa have joined the Catholic University of Lublin. One such student is Danielle, originally from Zimbabwe, who chose the Catholic University of Lublin because of its excellent reputation in the academic community and the favorable opinions of current students. 'My impressions of studying here are very positive. All the lecturers always did their best to help us learn and understand more. They gave their best and were an inspiration to us, for which my colleagues and I are very grateful,' she adds.

Emil, a US citizen of Polish descent, shared his impressions of studying at the Catholic University of Lublin and living in Lublin. 'There are many words to describe life in Lublin, but my favorites are: colorful and intense. There's always something to see and do, especially since Lublin is a medium-sized city where it's easy to meet friends while walking down the streets and get carried away by the moment! I've been studying at the Catholic University of Lublin for four years now, and I have only positive thoughts about it. Both my classmates and lecturers motivate me to become a better, smarter, and more ambitious student, for which I will always be grateful,' concludes Emil.
