Rev. Stanisław Janeczek studies above all the history of modern philosophy, history of Polish philosophy in the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, and history of education. While stressing the importance of the contents and forms through which philosophical doctrines and popularised he exposes the role of the history of philosophical culture. Aside to some analyses of original accomplishments he notices the meaning of rich philosophical writings made especially for the purpose of various types of education, and thereby he discovers the relations between the history of philosophy and history of education, science (natural science), and theology. While emphasising the role of philosophical inspiring functions with regard to our outlook or cultural and social views, he combines historical and philosophical studies with the history of intellectual culture.
He began his studies from the analysis of the philosophical culture in the early Enlightenment (the so-called philosophia recentiorum), the kind of philosophy that in an eclectic manner combined the tradition of modern Christian Aristotelianism with the original accomplishment of philosophy and modern science (Oświecenie chrześcijańskie [The Christian Enlightenment. A Study on the History of Polish Philosophical Culture], Lublin: Wydawnictwo KUL, 1994). Then he pursued philosophical and scientific culture in the education of the Commission of National Education against the European backdrop. In particular, he concentrates on the European studies in the realm of education of the Enlightenment, trying to show its specific character in relation to the traditional school (especially the Renaissance and Jesuit school). He studies the traditional school by means of the methods of the history of intellectual and philosophical culture (Edukacja oświeceniowa a szkoła tradycyjna. Z dziejów kultury intelektualnej i filozoficznej [The Enlightenment Education and the Traditional School. On the History of Intellectual and Philosophical Culture]], Lublin: Wydawnictwo KUL, 2008).
He extended his studies with regard to the genetic and comparatistic aspect by the history of epistemology, logic and modern science from Descartes, John Locke, to Etienne Condillac and from Francis Bacon, Isaac Newton to J. Le Rond d'Alembert (Logika czy epistemologia? Historyczno-filozoficzne uwarunkowania nowożytnej koncepcji logiki [Logic or Epistemology? The Historical and Philosophical Conditions of the Modern Conception of Logic], Lublin: Wydawnictwo KUL, 2003). He edits handbooks for logic used in the CNE schools. He also deals with the history of philosophy at KUL (Filozofia na KUL-u. Nurty - osoby - idee [Philosophy at the Catholic University of Lublin. Trends - People - Ideas], Lublin: Wydawnictwo KUL, 1998). For the didactics of the history of philosophy in Slovakia he wrote a course book entitled Dejiny novovekej a súčasnej filozofie [History of Modern and Recent Philosophy], published at the Catholic University in Ružomberok (2003). At the Faculty of Philosophy he conducts classes on the history of philosophy in Poland: a course lecture and a seminar for doctoral and MA students.
