The Role and Responsibilities of an Honorary Consul in Contemporary Diplomacy – A Professional Diplomat’s Perspective

Center for the Study of Diplomacy at KUL invites you to a seminar titled "The Role and Responsibilities of an Honorary Consul in Contemporary Diplomacy – A Professional Diplomat’s Perspective" organized as part of the University Diplomacy Forum series.
The seminar will take place on March 13, 2025, at 10:30 AM in lecture hall CTW-114.
The panel will include:
Ms. Verena Hable, Consul General of Austria in Warsaw and Embassy Secretary for Administrative Affairs
Mr. Peter Jesenský, Counselor and Consul General of the Czech Republic in Warsaw Mr. Bogdan Łukasik, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Lublin
Mr. Piotr Majchrzak, Honorary Consul of Austria in Lublin.

The primary objective of this event is to establish a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of consular activities, while seeking to address the contemporary challenges confronting both honorary and general consuls. During the discussion panel, key issues pertaining to the role and responsibilities of honorary consuls will be explored, including the specific nature and scope of consular duties, the significance and role of honorary consuls within the operations of professional diplomatic missions, and the challenges associated with the honorary consul’s function in the evolving international context.
