Is the Enlightenment dead?

April 25-29, 2006


30 hours course, 1 hour credit, 2 ECTS points.

I would try to show how much post-enlightenment worries are in fact embedded in the Enlightenment itself, perhaps most clearly in the work of Hume. I imagine contrasting him with Nietzsche, as a representative 'post-enlightenment' philosopher, and of course an avowed enemy of 'British psychologists'. By looking at continuities between them, I hope to make the whole issue
more complex and more interesting.
